Hey everyone, sorry for the long time since posting, school and work have been piling up. For today’s post, I’m going to give a quick haul on the few items that I picked up while Black Friday shopping. For this haul I went to CVS, Barnes and Noble, Target, and Bath and Body Works. Normally I’m not a big Black Friday shopper, however my best friend from home wanted to hit the mall that night and I couldn’t resist spending some extra time with my friend before returning to school. Check out the pics and descriptions!
First I picked up some CVS Brand makeup removing wipes as I have been running out up at school and there’s no CVS store near my campus. I love these makeup removing wipes because they do a great job at taking off both non waterproof and waterproof makeup, as well as having added vitamins which help benefit your skin. Overall, this is something I will always repurchase as I really love this product!
At CVS I also bought these Kiss brand stick on nails. Confession time: I have always had an awful nail biting compulsion. For some reason its my go-to nervous habit, and while I have been good lately with watching my nail biting habit, with the stressful few days working on the end of the semester essays, as well as looking for jobs, this nervous habit has hit me full force. I bought these to try and quell the habit while still giving me some length on my nails. I haven’t really tried them much, but from my first attempt with them I’ve found them vaguely fake looking, as well as difficult to customize to my nail beds. I’m going to keep testing them, but as of right now I’m not enjoying them too much.
When I first went into Barnes and Noble, the first book I sough out was Girl Online, the new book from Youtube’s Zoella. It’s a young adult romance book, about a girl dealing with anxiety and her first relationship. I read probably thirty pages in the store alone, and I have not been able to put this book down. It’s such a nice book to just relax and enjoy without much thought, which I’ve found great since the only books I’ve read this semester have been academic literature. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a fun, easy read!
The other book I was on the hunt for at Barnes and Noble was Grace Helbig’s book, Grace’s Guide: The Art of Pretending to be a Grown-Up. I’ve started reading this book as well, and I’ve found myself cracking up since I opened it. Grace writes in the same voice as her videos, which makes this book so easy to read as well as hilarious. Grace’s tips are both helpful and funny, and I’ve found myself learning a few new tips to making life a bit easier. Added are some hilarious photos of Grace and her friends, as well as an interactive page at the end of the sections. These interactive pages really help the reader customize their book and help utilize Grace’s tips in reality. I’d recommend this book to everyone, I can’t put it down!
At Target I was looking for some new sweaters to add to my wardrobe, however I didn’t find anything of real interest. After wandering around the store for a bit I found myself in the candle section, which is basically my kryptonite. I found this adorable candle, scented like Red Velvet Cupcake, which was the great price of $5. It’s probably half of a full sized candle (which is probably why it was so cheap), but I find it the perfect size because I tend to get bored with scents quickly. This candle smells heavenly, and while I can’t burn candles in the dorm, I can burn them at my boyfriend’s house off-campus. I definitely would recommend this candle to anyone interested in sweet scents and want to be hungry for cupcakes 24/7.
Another find from Target are these lovely Holiday-themed socks. After grabbing the candle, I continued wandering around the store looking for something to peak my interest, and I was dragged into the dollar area, where I found these socks for $1. While I’m not really a Christmas person, I though these socks were pretty cute and let’s be honest, you can never have enough socks. I started wearing them today and they’re pretty comfy, so I’m happy with this dollar purchase.
When my friend and I stopped to get Auntie Anne’s pretzels, (side note: Auntie Anne’s pretzels and my lifeblood. I could eat those pretzels for ages, they’re amazing!) my friend noticed a phone repair store that was also selling phone covers. Since my friend just got the new iPhone, he needed a cover and I wandered after him. Immediately after stepping into this store I managed to accidentally throw my phone across the room while trying to respond to a text. While my phone didn’t break (THANK GOD), the guy behind the register took pity on me and gave me two free screen protectors, so thanks random cashier for helping me avoid shattering my screen. I haven’t tried them yet, but if anyone wants a review I’d be happy to give an update.
My last purchase on Black Friday was from Bath and Body Works, which had a great sale where if you bought three items, you’d get three items for free. While that drew me in, the prices made this broke college student think twice about purchasing. So, after browsing for bit, I decided that the Noel scent, which is apparently a scent they bring back every holiday season. Since I’m a sucker for any vanilla or sweet scents, this was right up my alley. Also, winter in the mountains always makes my hands insanely dry, so I’m always looking for a new hand lotion, so I thought I’d give this a try. As of writing this post, I’ve tried the hand lotion a few times and I’ve been loving the scent as well as the moisturizing powers.
So, that’s what I purchased on Black Friday 2014, an odd assortment of things I don’t really need but mindlessly enjoy. Let me know in the comments what you picked up this Black Friday, as well as what other things I should look into purchasing.
Happy Monday everyone!
