My 2016 Goals!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you had a great holiday season and are ready to push forward and make 2016 the best year yet!  After taking a bit of a break during the Christmas season (lots of traveling and having friends visiting), I’m back with a clear head and ready to kick start this blog again.

I’ve never really been a Resolutions type girl, I’m always guilty of making lofty resolutions and never following through. Something I was trying during 2015 was creating monthly goals, which I found a lot easier to accomplish and easier to break down. Since it’s a new year, I though I would share some of my goals for the year, some more vague and more of a work-in-progress, while others could be tackled during the different months.

Get into a Graduate School

After taking a year off post-undergrad, I’ve found myself missing being in school. This year I’m planning on going back to school in order to get my Masters degree, something which is going to help me advance professionally and get me back into studying what I’m passionate about. I’m so excited to start this adventure, and can’t wait to share this process with you!

Get my Driving License

I’ve been taking driving lessons since the start of Fall 2015, and I’m one lesson left before I take my driving test. I’ve really never had to get a drivers license, considering everywhere I’ve lived has had everything I need in walking distance. Since I started working about twenty minutes from my home, I’ve been trying to feel comfortable behind the wheel and gain the independence one has with their license. I’m hoping to have this crossed off my list by the end of the month!

Move into  our own Apartment

As I’ve touched upon in other posts, my boyfriend and I have been living together (officially) since May 2015, but we currently live with our friends/roommates. While I love having people around all the time, when our lease is up in May we will be moving into our first real apartment. I’m both incredibly excited to start this new chapter of our lives together, and a nervous wreck about the whole moving process in general. Another one of those big life moments happening in 2016!

Get my finances in order

This really is the first time in my life that I’ve been relatively independent, so I’m trying to learn all about getting my financial situation together. I’ve just got my first credit card (yay building credit!) and I want to keep building my savings account up as well. With getting into grad school and a move coming up, it helps my anxiety to be as prepared as I possibly can!

Include more people in my life

This year has been the year of concentrating on me and getting myself situated as an independent post-grad young adult. Unfortunately, that’s been a bit excluding since my work days are on the weekends, so it’s been really hard to keep up with people. This year I want to make more friends and reconnect with friends from the past; I’m tired of closing myself off and giving up any semblance of a social life!

Bake more yummy food

I really got into baking during 2015 and I’d like to step up my baking game this year. I’m hoping to branch outside of boxed recipes and move towards making things completely from scratch.  Now that I’ve been lucky enough to receive some baking equipment for Christmas,I’m hoping to start baking up a storm!

Start working on serious photography

I’ve always had a huge interest in photography, I’ve worked with both digital cameras and film cameras from an early age. Now that I’m out of school and have free time for hobbies, I really want to start taking my photography seriously and learn more about what goes into taking a great picture. Here’s to better blog pictures in the new year!

Stretch Everyday

Since I work in an office on a computer all day, my back is just completely messed up. Pair that with a childhood of bad back problems, and now I just have an awful, achy back that cracks anytime I move. This year I really want to make it a habit to stretch more; I feel like if I’m stretching on a daily basis my overall health and comfort can only go up. I would like to spend at least five minutes in the morning everyday this year just stretching a bit and hopefully making my back feel better!

Well, that’s it for my 2016 goals, please let me know in the comments below what some of your goals are for the new year, or what exciting things are coming up for you this year! I always love to hear what you all have to say on the subject! Have a great day and I’ll see you all next time!
