January Favorites

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog, today I’m going to be sharing with you my favorite products and items of January 2016. I’ve found a few makeup products that I’m head over heels for, a TV show recommendation, and a podcast I’d love to share with you. Check it out under the cut!

It should be no surprise to anyone that the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream is one of my favorite products from last month, especially after my glowing review of them! I love the texture and the lasting effects. I’ve tried three of the colors, but my fave from January has to be Copenhagen, which is a gorgeous dark reddish purple color, perfect for the cold winter aesthetic!

I got the Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner  Intense this month and I don’t think I’m ever turning back from this product! As someone new to liquid liner, this is easy to apply and very black, which is great from my quasi-emo aesthetic this winter. My favorite part of this product is just how long lasting it is, as my eye lids are hooded and tend to rub eye products off quickly. This lasts me all day long without any touch ups, so if you have hooded eye lids definitely check this product out!

With seemingly every beauty guru loving the highlighted, dewy look, I began to reach for my Benefit High Beam sample to check out what all the talk was about. As someone with a low-key everyday makeup look, I think this product is perfect for my five minute makeup routine. It’s easily blendable and leaves me with a natural looking highlighter, something I love for my simple work makeup look.

My Mom put this lip balm in my Christmas stocking and I’m in love with this product. The Palmer’s Original Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm makes sure to leave my lips moisturized, and it’s scented and tastes like straight up chocolate. It’s a clear consistency but it pretty strongly chocolate scented, which for a sweet tooth like me is perfect! I love using this in the morning to prime my lips before applying my liquid lipstick!

This month has been the month of black nail polish for me. I don’t know why I always revert back to my high school emo ways, but they always come back in my makeup and nails. The Essie Licorice nail polish just looks great on nails and the formula is amazing, and keeps my nail polish lasting long without chipping, something important to me as I constantly need to do some manual hand labor at work.

Like everyone in the universe, I have been obsessed with the Netflix Original Series Making a Murderer. I always love the true crime genre, so this show is right up my alley. In case you haven’t heard of this show, it’s a 10 episode documentary about a man false convicted of a rape, who is later arrested for the murder of a woman, however the murder investigation is done by the people he is suing after his false conviction. It’s really interesting and keeps you thinking the entire way through. As of writing this I am currently on episode 8 and I can’t stop watching!

As I’m obsessed with listening to podcasts at work, my latest obsession is Coffee Break Spanish, a podcast typically running around twenty minutes an episode who’s goal is to teach their listeners spanish in a simple and fun format. I’m trying to learn spanish because my grandmother, who passed away five years ago, was born in South America and I want a way to feel closer to her and tangibly share something with her. I’ve learned a fair amount of spanish since beginning this podcast and I look forward to learning more!

Well that’s it for this month, let me know in the comments below what products or things you were loving in January, and I’ll see you next time!
