September 2016 Favorites

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Today’s post is going to be sharing some of my favorite things and products from last month, September. I loved last month and enjoyed the transition into autumn, but now I’m ready for fall full blast! Check out some of my favorite things from September below!

BEAUTY

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Berlin

I’ve never been a huge fan of brown lipsticks after growing up in the ‘90’s, but this shade has become my new favorite lip color for the fall. When you first apply it to your lips, it definitely is more of a medium toned brown, however I really love it when I’ve worn it for a few hours and it begins to just fade a bit into a lighter, but warm, brown. This has been my go-to for the fall so far, I think it’s a really in shade and it looks fab!

Benefit’s Watts Up

I don’t really have many highlighters, but this fall I have been feeling a glowier look. This highlighter is great for fast application, since it’s a solid I just put in on the areas I want to highlight and blend quickly with my fingers, and it’s more of a warm toned highlight which looks really nice coming out of the summer.

Yes to Coconut Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser

I’ve always struggled with finding a facial cleanser that really helps break up all the oil in my T-Zone but this product has become a holy grail for me! I use this on my dry face, keeping it in its oil-solid form, which works better at really breaking up the oils on my face. This is also really amazing because it adds some hydration to the dry patches on my cheeks and around my eyes without being too hydrating on my oily spots. This is pretty affordable and works amazingly with my skin type!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

I’ve been a longtime supporter of the beauty blender to apply liquid face products, but after picking this brush up from Ulta in a buy one get one sale I’ve fallen head over heels in love with this brush! It’s great for blending out foundation nicely and makes it look a lot more natural and less cakey on my skin. I use this basically every day to apply my concealer and I really think it makes it last longer and look smoother on my skin.

HAIR

OXG Hydrating Teatree Mint Shampoo

This month I have been using this shampoo every time I wash my hair. It always leaves my hair feeling super clean and rid of any gross buildup from other products, while leaving me with a great minty smell for the rest of the day. It’s a higher price for drugstore products, but I love it and will definitely be repurchasing at some point down the line!

MEDIA

Stranger Things

You guys, I am OBSESSED with this show! My boyfriend and I ended up binging it over the course of a couple days, at the beginning we were trying for one episode a night but it got to the point where we just had to finish it! Its super ‘80’s, which feels cozy and nostalgic, almost like a scary The Goonies. And let me tell you, I am not a scary movie lover, so this had me nervous at first, but it’s not jump-cut scary and builds the story and the characters up really well. Definitely go check this out on Netflix if you haven’t already!

Survivor Millennials v. Gen x

Survivor is back for another season and I could not be more stoked! In the lead up to the season premiere I was not super excited about the theme, as it just feels a little to click-bait for me. And yes, anytime they try to incorporate the theme into the show it gets pretty cringe worthy (ala Probst asking the Gen X tribe how they text while at tribal council). But I think the cast is pretty stellar and once we have a tribe swap we will forget about the theme and focus on the show. So far I am loving David and Ken on the Gen X tribe and Adam and Hannah over on the Millennials tribe. Let me know who you’re routing for, and check out my Twitter Wednesday nights because I try to live tweet the episodes!

Big Brother Over the Top

Oh god, what a hilarious disaster BBOTT has become. I’ve been keeping up with the feeds and the episodes, but some of this cast has me dying a bit inside (I’m looking at you, Monte and Cornbread!). I’m not a fan as well of the insane amount of power America has been given, but it’s a new season of Big Brother so who am I to complain? I’m loving Jason (of course!) and surprisingly Justin, who I thought I would hate pre-season. I also try to live tweet this during the online episodes Wednesday night if you wanna check out my Twitter for that!

Podcast: RHAPPY Hour

So how else could I keep up with the crazy amount of BBOTT without the RHAPpy hour?! I’ve always been a huge fan of this podcast, but have surprisingly never mentioned it here (what gives, me?). I love love LOVE the LFC, Alex’s deadpan humor, Brent’s rants, and Taran’s fency fenterton always keeps me entertained, and Jordan reins in the group brilliantly! If you’re a fan of Big Brother or reality TV, go check them out!
