Back to School Makeup Tutorial

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Since this is the week many students (high school or college) return to classes, I thought I’d share some of my favorite makeup that I used when in school to get ready quickly. We all know that no one wants to wake up early to get to that 8AM class, so here’s some products you can throw on when you’ve slept through your five alarms. Check it out below!

My first step when I’m getting ready for class is to get a bit of coverage for my skin. I’m loving the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Foundation because it’s not dry on my skin and it has a solid medium coverage, which looks more natural for an everyday look. It also lasts pretty well throughout the day and doesn’t make my skin look cakey, which is honestly my number one priority seeing as I’m very dry.

To set the foundation and give myself some more coverage, I like to use the Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder. I’m super light with this because, like I have mentioned, I’m very dry and powder can instantly show dry spots on my face. This isn’t too bad on drier skin and does give you a little bit more coverage when blended over foundation. This powder also makes sure to lock in the foundation and keep it long lasting.

Next up is the Wet n Wild Illuminating Palette, which can be used to apply highlighter, blush, and bronzer if it suits you to do so. I tend to reach for this when I’m in a rush, because the blush shades are super pretty on the skin and very pigmented, so I tend to use a lighter hand when applying. I also love the highlight shade because it’s a more subtle highlight while still giving off a dewy look. I’ve never tried the bronzer because it’s a bit too dark for my skin tone and bronzer just isn’t my thing, but it is super convenient to have it inside the palette.

For quick eyebrows on the go, I always reach for the E.L.F. Clear Eyebrow Gel and Mascara. This is great for keeping your brows in place throughout the day without feeling sticky or gross. Both sides are essentially the same product, so you can use it on either eyebrows or eye lashes, and it’s also incredibly affordable.

Speaking of eye lashes, when I’m headed to class I never want too crazy of an eye look, so I tend to just stick with mascara. Recently I’ve been using Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara and it does wonders to my eyelashes. It’s great at both lengthening the lashes and creating a fuller effect, which really makes my eyes pop while still looking natural. I’ve found that I really only need one good swipe to make my lashes look amazing, but you can definitely layer a few swipe on mascara to get a great, full lash look. It’s perfect for running out the door to just make that morning class.

Lastly for my school makeup look, I always reach for a matte liquid lipstick to keep the color on my lips lasting throughout the day and bringing some color to a natural look. I’ve always reached for the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams because they are super affordable and very long lasting. The color payoff is awesome and every color I’ve used I’ve really liked. Pictured is the shade Berlin, which is a gorgeous matte brown color that looks amazing in the fall and pulls together a basic, natural face look.

So there you have it, my go to products for a back to school makeup look. I’ve always opted for a more natural, long lasting makeup when I was in school, but what are some of your favorite looks or products? Let me know in the comments below!
